1781 North American Token Breen-1144 PCGS graded AU55. Glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter brown toning in protected areas on both sides. Hints of tan faded down from mint color show on the right side of the obverse. Smooth and attractive, free of any notable marks or other defects. Mint frost shows in the protected areas and this piece offers excellent eye appeal. The Heard provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 75 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $300 - UP

(1785) Bar Cent Breen-1145 W-8520 Rarity-4 PCGS graded XF45. Very attractive glossy medium brown blending to light chocolate in the fields and protected areas. Smooth and nearly flawless showing only very light wear on the highpoints. The only marks are a shallow planchet flake in the field near the dentils left of the U (USA) and another nestled in the field between the upper halves of the S & A. Sharply struck slightly off center to K-4.5, as usual, affecting some dentils but none of the legends. A very nice example of this popular colonial issue that was circulating in New York circa 1785. 1787 Auctori Plebis Halfpenny Token Breen-1147 PCGS graded XF45. Rather frosty mix of medium chocolate and lighter brown. The toning is delicately mixed in diagonal striations on the obverse and this piece offers excellent eye appeal. No notable defects and just a touch of friction on the highpoints. The lower half of the date is off the planchet, which is normal for this type, and the strike is slightly off center to K-2 leaving a few letters slightly off the planchet as well. The planchets for this type were just too small for the dies. MDS with the usual die cracks on the reverse. The Heard provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 76 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $500 - UP

1789 Mott Token, Thin Planchet with Plain Edge Breen-1021 PCGS graded AU55, CAC Approved. Choice glossy light to medium chocolate brown. Nicely struck and void of any notable defects other than a very shallow low spot in the field under the S in WARES (as struck). Early die state before any die cracks or cud breaks. Struck with the reverse rotated 100 degrees clockwise relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. The Heard provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 76 in the "Redbook." 1794 Franklin Press Halfpenny Token Breen-1165 PCGS graded AU53. Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate with frosty tan in protected areas. The only mark worthy of mention is a tiny pinprick under the left side of the E in PAYABLE. Later (but not the latest) die state with an internal cud break in the middle of the press. A nice example that comes with an equally nice provenance. The Craig-Heard provenance is noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 78 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $500 - UP

Nicely struck and free of any notable defects. A puff of darker chocolate brown toning off the stern of the ship may help identify this cent. Just a trace of rub on the highpoints from mint state.
