Lot 518
1909-S. VDB. PCGS graded MS-64 Red. Nice red example of this key date cent with minor wood-grain effect across the portrait from the copper alloy in the planchet. Full glowing red color, with a slightly weak impression left by the rebound of the (possibly worn) dies that struck this '09-S VDB. Note the merging of his ear with Lincoln's hair along the top curve, as well as the soft appearance of the bow tie. Still, a very choice impression from the dies, all things considered (PCGS # 2428) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 4,000.

Lot 520
1914-D Lincoln Cent. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown. Popular key date. Well struck. A glossy coin and a strong Mint State 64 by any benchmark. What's more, this has an engaging display of pale coppery red iridescence that soar across the highly lustrous "turning brown" surfaces of this scarce branch mint key. The strike is also strong for the date, with excellent results from the die seen in both wheat ears. Pop 148; 31 in 65RB; none higher by PCGS in RB. (PCGS # 2472) .
Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.

1914-D Lincoln Cent. NGC graded MS-63 Red & Brown. Nice strike. The light lines in the photogaphs aren't scratches on the coin but scratches on the NGC grading holder. The coin is really quite fresh and attractive at this MS63 level, with pleasing reds and lovely purple browns just having formed. Strike and compositon are both first rate as well. A popular key date. Pop 22; 104 finer at NGC in Red Brown.
Estimated Value $3,200 - 3,500.

Lot 522
1915 Lincoln Cent. NGC graded MS-65 Red. Fiery mint red now toning in areas to purple brown. A scarce issue in top condition. Copper, being a reactive metal, can tone or "mellow" even once it is safely housed in a grading holder. Pop 18; 6 better by a point.
Estimated Value $700 - 800.

Lot 523
1922 Lincoln Cent. No D. Strong reverse. NGC graded AU-50 Brown FS-013.2. Uniform glossy chocolate brown; the obverse of this piece, although struck from worn dies, still shows a clear date, generally clear LIBERTY and mushy but still readable IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse die was much newer and so displays very sharp wheat lines and kernels of wheat on both stems, with clear legends throughout. An attractive, high grade example of this scarce issue.
Estimated Value $4,000 - 5,000.

Lot 524
1922. No D. Strong reverse. EF-40. While the obverse was clearly struck from a very worn die (notice the mushiness in the letters comprising IN GOD WE TRUST as well as LIBERTY), it has the strong reverse (the most valuable variety for 1922). Medium to deep steel brown with scattered areas of deeper toning along the lower portrait.
Estimated Value $3,200 - 3,400.

Lot 525
1923 Lincoln Cent. PCGS graded MS-67 Red. Well struck with lovely mint red. The iridescent orange and red resonate off of the surface of this pristine Gem with the most fiery shades expanding outwards toward the rim as it fills the surface with glowing color. What a joy to examine and catalog for you! Pop 11; 1 in 68 Red. (PCGS # 2545) .
Estimated Value $9,000 - 11,000.

Lot 526
1926-S. NGC graded MS-64 Brown. Traces of mint red on both sides. A ineffectual imprint was left by the rebound of the dies that struck this '26-S, which is a characteristic of just about all examples, including the reddest of the reds. This piece has plenty of eye appeal to excite the Lincoln cent buyer (PCGS # 2573) .
Estimated Value $800 - 1,000.

1955. Doubled die obverse. NGC graded MS-60 Brown. Some mint red visible along with lovely rose red to delicate lilac hues in the toning. Barely makes Mint condition, yet this has all the distinguishing features of the key date 1955 doubled die. A very popular die variety, it has almost become a modern legend in American numismatics (PCGS # 2825) .

A few minor speckle-spots on the face of Lincoln, plus a nick behind the ear, one above the shoulder truncation, but generally lustrous with a reddish pink hue to the color. Strong doubling seen on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, and 1955. Also, Lincoln's bow tie is doubled as is his coat lapel (PCGS # 2825) .

1955. Doubled die obverse. AU-55. But for a tiny pit mark (as made) on the shoulder, this ranks as a very choice specimen in the grade, with ample luster, some remaining mint red, smooth fields and devices, and clear striking on the doubled portions of the obverse.
