Edward VIII (1894-1972) King of Great Britain; abdicated to marry an American divorcée. Document Signed "Edward Duke of Windsor," n.p. n.d., 1 p. quarto. Being a souvenir copy of the Instrument of Abdication that Edward VIII signed December 10, 1936, renouncing his claim to the throne. He was thereafter given the title "Duke of Windsor." Although he normally went by the name of David among his friends, he signs here with his name as king, followed by his new title. Boldly signed; toned marks at outer edges from a previous framing. This is the first such document we have seen. An excellent display item.

Ferdinand V (1452-1516) King of Spain; sponsor of Christopher Columbus. Document Signed ("I the King) in Spanish, September 21, 1514, folio. The King writes to Don Miguel to inform him that he is according certain civil and legal privileges to the order of St. John on the island of Majorca. He tells Don Miguel to make sure that nothing prevents his orders from being carried out. Matted with an engraving of Ferdinand and framed to an overall size of 16½ x 21½ in. The marriage of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabelle of Castile united Spain. The year 1492 saw "The Catholic Monarchs" not only sponsoring Christopher Columbus, but also expelling the Muslims (Moors) and the Jews from Spain.

George III (1738-1820) King of England; last king of the Thirteen Colonies. Large signature and embossed paper seal excised from a 1797 vellum document, 4 x 5½ in. Overall toning. Ideal for framing with an engraving of the king who ruled England during the American Revolution.

First Day Cover issued April 19, 1956 to celebrate the marriage of American film star Grace Kelly and Rainier, Prince of Monaco, Signed "Rainier Prince de Monaco" and "Grace de Monaco." With five first-day-of-issue stamps and two postmarks: "Monaco 19 Avril." Colorful and attractive.

Autograph Letter Signed ("Farah"), on personal stationery embossed with a crown and an "F", n.p., n.d., 2pp (one sheet), 9 x 6¼ in. To singer and actress Pearl Bailey, with family news: her eldest son, Reza, had married a young Iranian girl the week before at a family celebration; her daughter Farahnaz has graduated from Columbia with a B.A. in psychology; and other news. She ends, "With lots of love, Farah." In excellent condition.

Pahlavi, Mohammed Reza (1919-1980) Shah of Iran; close U.S. ally; overthrown by a revolution that brought the Ayatollah Khomeini to power in January 1979. Scarce signature ("M.R. Pahlavi") in blue ink on a 4 x 3 in. piece of white paper. The Shah died in exile in 1980.

Sellasie, Haile (1891-1975) Emperor of Ethiopia. Large strong signature in blue fountain pen on heavy cardstock, 2 x 5¾ in. Excised from a document and tipped to the bottom of a state seal, probably from the same document, in purple ink with a crowned lion (Sellasie called himself "the lion of Judah") and raised heading: "JUBILEE PALACE / ADDIS ABABA." Scarce.

Windsor, Duke and Duchess of. Photograph Signed ("Edward" and "Wallis Windsor") as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and while Edward was the governor of the Bahamas (1940-45), 9½ x 7½ inches. An excellent full-length photograph, taking outside of their official residence in the Bahamas. Signed by both on the lower edge. As the oldest son of George V, Edward became Edward VIII, King of Great Britain and Ireland, in 1936; he abdicated to marry American divorcée Wallis Simpson.
