Very Rare Dorothy Stratten Signed PLAYBOY Centerfold. Dorothy Stratten was a Canadian model and actress who came to the US and was chosen as a finalist of the 25th Anniversary Great Playmate Hunt. She was chosen to be Miss August 1979 at age 19 where Hugh Hefner had very high hopes for a meaningful crossover appeal as an actress. She guest starred on numerous televison shows and demonstrated a natural talent for comedy. In 1980 she became Playmate of the Year and starred in the sci-fi parody, GALAXINA. It was at this time Hefner and friends told her to separate from her manager/boyfriend, Paul Snider, due to increasingly erratic behavior and drug use. In an attempt to discuss an amicable divorce in August of 1980, Stratten was brutally murdered by Snider who later turned the weapon on himself. Stratten's story became the subject of a best sellers, a television drama and more notably, a searing powerful film by director Bob Fosse entitled STAR 80. Rare signature of Stratten in the August '79 issue boldly signed and inscribed across her printed name in black marker "To Gary, Love Dorothy Stratten XOXO. 36 Ralph McQuarrie Used Concept Prints for Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Ralph McQuarrie (1929-2012) was a visionary conceptual designer and futurist responsible for the look of the original trilogy of Star Wars. He worked hand-in-hand with George Lucas to help establish the saga's visual aesthetic, its inimitable look and lived-in feel. Beyond designing Darth Vader, C-3PO, and R2-D2, McQuarrie produced hundreds of pieces of Star Wars artwork, including conceptual paintings, costume designs, storyboards, and matte paintings, as well as posters, book covers, and album covers. Offered here are a used collection of reference 8 x 10" prints printed on double weight Kodak photo paper during the production of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. Some of the art we have not seen before in commercially available collections. Obtained as a gift at the Skywalker Ranch from a production executive, these were housed in a three ring reference notebook with several having 10 digit serial numbers written in felt tip pen in lower right border. Assembling these production concepts in order very nearly tells the plot of Empire simply by the visuals. Overall collection is in fine used condition. All but 9 have ring binder holes, all have edge wear, a few very minor tears in the punched holes, one has light creasing and the photographic paper has very light, but even toning. Images themselves boast excellent color and clearly demonstrate the genius that was Ralph McQurarrie. A very nice collection for the devotee of Star Wars and would. Estimated Value $300 - 500

Starr, Blaze (1932-2015) Born Fannie Belle Fleming in rural West Virginia, Blaze was a voluptuous and by all measure, a sensational and popular burlesque star with flaming red hair. Ronald "Pigpen" McKernan (1945-1973). A founding member of the enduring and iconic San Francisco rock band, the Grateful Dead, Pigpen brought an affinity for the Blues to the band, playing organ and harmonica and, in the early years, acting as the primary vocalist and frontman. Tragically, he also had an affinity for alcohol that ultimately cut short both his career and life when he died of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage at age 27. This handsome Art Deco style Hohner Echo Elite harmonica was presented to Pigpen as a gift in the summer of 1971 by Phil Lesh and the other members of the Grateful Dead. The Deco style Echo Elite was manufactured in Germany in the 1930s and '40, with this example once used by someone in Artie Shaw's band. Measuring 6¾ x 2¼ x 1", it is in very good condition, with just a few minor scratches and some rusting. The case is likewise very good, with some scuffing, chipping, and minor scratching, mostly along the edges. A plaque afixed to the top of the case is inscribed, "To RON / From PHIL And THE BAND".

Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Hank Harrison, former manager of the Warlocks, one of the early iterations of the Grateful Dead. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500
